Shoodle struggling with bowel movements

Hi, i have a 3 month old shoodle (shit zhu cross toy poodle). i have been trying to toilet train him so have been keeping him inside a lot, and hasn't had much space to move around.

Recently he had been struggling to poop and it got stuck in his anus, i have to remove it for him as he can not pass it. Tonight was the second time it happened and when cleaning his anus there were some stiff pieces stuck- but his poop came out soft? he was also struggling and crying when trying to go. other than this he has been acting fairly normal.

Any ideas what to do or what's wrong?

What you're describing makes me think that your puppy is a bit constipated, and this isn't terribly unusual in puppies - especially with the smaller breeds.

The simplest remedies are generally to increase his fluid intake and exercise levels. This is often enough to get his digestive system moving more quickly and get rid of this problem.
