swelled belly

Why is her belly so swelled? I have a 3 1/2 week old female yorkie puppy and her belly is extremely swelled compared to her 4 siblings.

She is nursing fine but I am not sure if she is having normal bowel movements because the mother is still cleaning after them. All of the puppies have had worming medication already. So has the mother.

It could be that your puppy is a bit constipated, it is difficult to tell when the mom is cleaning up after them as you often can't see whether or not a particular pup has eliminated.

As they've all been dewormed, a worm problem is less likely but it is still possible. If you're concerned about this pup I would recommend that you have her examined by a veterinarian to make sure there aren't any underlying health issues.

With new born puppies it's always better to be safe than sorry. Best of luck with your puppies.
