swollen stomach after spay

my puppy was spayed yesterday.
today her stomach is swollen
the vet wrapped it with an elastic bandage
she is to wear it for ten days
what does this mean?




Hi Pat
Well, there is a certain amount of swelling that normally occurs after a surgery of any sort. The tissue is irritated and damaged where it's been cut.

However, I would definitely check this with your veterinarian and ask him why this has happened and what it means. I'm afraid I'm not a vet myself and don't have the knowledge to give you an accurate answer.

If he's already examined her and wrapped it then I'm assuming he knows what's going on and why, but you should also be 'kept in the loop'.

If there was infection or anything like that she should have been given antibiotics so it may be a very localized problem. But, talk to your veterinarian is my best advice.
