My puppy is four months old and has been teething for a while now. He has lost a couple of teeth, and occasionally seems a little under the weather, as is to be expected.
This morning, he threw up in his kennel while I was still sleeping, and I'm wondering if that's normal while teething.
I can't think of anything he could have gotten a hold of which could have made him sick, as he had been in his kennel for a good while.
He drank a small amount of water but is uninterested in food. Is this normal?
Hi
Teething can cause some pain/discomfort, show some excessive chewing, and sometimes a pup will seem a bit under the weather as you describe, but vomiting isn't normally a symptom.
If your pup only vomited clear or green/yellow liquid, it could just be that his tummy got too empty. When that happens the stomach acids build up and that causes the pup to vomit. It most often happens first thing in the morning when the pup/dog hasn't eaten since the night before.
Feeding smaller, more frequent meals can help if this becomes a problem, as can giving a pup a couple of plain dog biscuits before bedtime.
If your puppy actually vomited up food, then he could have eaten something he shouldn't (they can be pretty 'sneaky' about it!), or could be sick in some way. In that case, keep an eye on him and if you notice any other symptoms have him examined by a vet asap.
Hope this helps. Best of luck with your pup.
