Too Young?

I recently bought my toy poodle, Yuri, and very first puppy from a breeder. She informed me that Yuri was 6 weeks and ready to leave.

When I got home, I looked on online and found that she was too young to have left her mother. Now, I don't know all the steps I should take to insure her quality of life.

I need to know what shots she should get, the food she should eat, and her basic needs. She's also very tiny, she's able to fit in one of my palms.

Hi Lexie
Yes, your puppy should have stayed with her momma until she was at least 8 weeks of age to get the optimal health and social benefits, but now you have her don't panic about this.

She will do just fine as long as you make sure to take good care of her health, give her plenty of love, attention and discipline and lots of socialization just as soon as she's fully vaccinated.

I'd recommend reading my New Puppy Care page. It's specifically designed to help new puppy owners figure out exactly what they need to know/do to take the best care of their puppy.

There are links there to pages on vaccinations, Crate Training and Potty Training, Puppy Food,Puppy Behavior and much more.

If you follow the guidelines given there, both you and your puppy will do fine. Best of luck with her!
