two month old female beagle with lumps

Hi thank you for your answer which was very helpful

I have another questions MY daughter has just informed me that two of the puppy lumps has open up with light red blood and a foul odor coming from the area. I will be taking the puppy to the vet is there any special question that I should ask the vet and do you thank adults or children and be infected by this?

Hi
Glad to be of help! If these lumps are oozing they may well be infected, and your veterinarian may want to prescribe antibiotics in that case.

I expect that he will be able to make an accurate diagnosis once he sees what is going on.

As for people being infected by this, as I'm not a vet or health professional I can only offer a personal opinion. I would recommend making sure that anyone who is in contact with these lumps, (or the pus/oozing) washes their hands very thoroughly each time. Avoid letting this come in contact with open cuts etc.

Pus contains bacteria, but whether or not the cause or condition that causes these lumps on your dog is communicable to humans I can't say. Most dog illnesses and conditions are not transferable but it's always best to be very careful about contact etc. to be on the safe side.

I would also recommend making sure that you ask your vet what it is that is causing this condition, and what to expect from the treatment.

Best of luck.
