vaccine side effects

My puppy just got her DHLPP vaccine yesterday, now she is having trouble walking and she is sleeping like crazy.

Should I take her to the vet?

Many puppies have a reaction of some sort to their vaccinations, I'd recommend that you check out my Puppy Shots page as it has lots of information on puppy vaccination and the type of side effects you may see.

Generally the most severe problems occur very soon after the vaccination is given, and symptoms such as lethargy, loss of appetite or a low grade fever are less serious and occur within 24 hours or so.

However, if your pup is having difficulty walking you should talk to your vet and ask his/her advice. If you notice any swelling (particularly around the face/muzzle) that can indicate a moderate - severe allergic reaction and should be discussed with your vet.

Normally the milder symptoms only last a day or two, although there may be a lump or 'knot' at the site of the injection itself for several weeks afterwards.
