We Adopted our dog Dexter at about a year old

We adopted our dog Dexter from our local kill shelter.
He was about a year old when we adopted him and he was a mess.

He is a pit bull mix. He was skinny, had scabs all over his body, had green discharge from his nose & eyes. And had bite wounds covering his neck. The shelter staff told us he must have been used for bait. They said his face was so swollen it was twice the size just a week before.

We have a female pit Lexi at home and were so nervous to bring him home. We hoped & prayed that they would get along.

A friend of mine took Dexter in for a week to treat his infection. I asked her to do this because I did not want my dog to get sick from my new dog.

When the day finally came to take Dexter home, my husband and i crossed our fingers that they would hit it off.

3 years later and they are inseperable. My female and him are BEST friends!! they sleep, eat and play together. I only wish i knew what happened to him in his previous life. But i do know now that he is one spoiled dog.

My female was alone for the first 6 years of her life. We see such a change in her. She is a much happier girl and is no longer lonely. Not only did Dexter change our lives, but he changed Lexi's life too :)

Dexter is the one with the mask on his face, and Lexi is the one with the stripe down her snout.
