What are these red spots on Staffy's head?

my 7 month old staff has suddenly come out in red spots on his head, the don't seem to be itching him though...

Hi
There are all sorts of reasons for a dog to develop spots, lumps, bumps and so on. Skin irritations like this can be caused by parasites such as fleas, ticks or mites.

Or dog allergies of some sort can be to blame. Occasionally there is a hereditary issue, or it can be an infection... etc. etc.

Staffy's are a breed that tend to be susceptible to Mange, a skin problem caused by tiny skin mites. You can learn all about this on my Mange in Dogs page.

Often the first pimples and hair loss is seen on the muzzle, head and front legs/chest area. It's possible this is what you're seeing.

However, only a vet can make a diagnosis so you need to have your pup examined by your veterinarian. That way you'll know what you're dealing with and how to treat it.

Hope this helps, best of luck with your Staffy.
