We just brought home a 7 week old shi tzu female puppy yesterday. The puppy was not weaned yet from mother and siblings.
Apparently they were feeding the puppy soft food in the morning and some at night (I think this was in between the mother feedings.
She seems hungry and have no idea what to feed her or what to do at this point. Any advice? Thank you...asap
Hi Dal
Hopefully by now you have got this situation under control, but here are a few tips to help you out.
Always feed a premium, high quality puppy food that has been specifically formulated for your puppy's size ie in this case you want a small-breed puppy food.
There are many, many foods to choose from and trying to figure out which one is best can be tricky, that's why I put together several pages on this website to help new puppy owners. I'd recommend reading these pages to start with...

Puppy Food Reviews
At 7 weeks your pup is old enough to be weaned from her momma's milk and should be able to lap water just fine. She doesn't need puppy milk, and cows milk is likely to upset his tummy, water is enough along with a good quality food.
I would recommend dry puppy food, but if he's used to the canned or wet food you can mix the two, gradually increasing the amount of dry and decreasing the amount of canned until she's eating his dry food only. If she has trouble chewing the kibble, you can soak it in warm water for about 10 minutes before you feed it to her. But you shouldn't need to do this for more than a week or two.
Hope this helps, best of luck with your new puppy.
