Our 7 week old cocker has wheezing periodically. should we be concerned?
We brought her home from the breeder yesterday.
Hi
It's always best to get a new puppy checked out by your own vet within 24 to 48 hours of bringing him/her home. If you have a health-contract with the breeder, chances are this is part of the terms and conditions in it.
Any sort of wheezing should most definitely be investigated by your vet, as conditions such as kennel cough, or other upper respiratory tract infections are a possibility.
In puppies, a simple respiratory infection can turn into pneumonia fairly quickly, and that's serious. Of course, your pup could be perfectly fine and the wheezing could be nothing serious, but it's always better to be safe than sorry so I'd definitely take him to your vet just as soon as you can.
Best of luck with your new pup.
