Why does my jack russell puppy yelps when i touch her around her ribcage and neck?

I'm afraid I can't really answer that question as it probably needs a 'hands-on' evaluation to find out what's causing this behavior.

If you're being gentle and yet your pup still yelps, it could be that she's in pain due to some sort of health condition or injury.

If you are 'grabbing' hold of her not too gently, or are doing it unexpectedly, she could yelp in fright rather than pain.

I can only recommend that you have your veterinarian take a look at her so that you can find out what's wrong. Best of luck, hope she's doing better soon.
