why does my puppy have pus pockets on his belly

he has pus pockets on his belly and between his legs. they are not on his penis but are all different sizes. they came up practically overnight. he is taking meds for worms. we took him to the vet and he was nearly dead from so many worms. he finished his meds last night and is taking a liquid vitamin that has a meaty smell that the vet gave him because he was so weak.

he is feeling much better since he took the worm meds. we bathed him in hartz flea and tick shampoo and i didn't know it but my son also bathed him in suave body wash for men. we don't know how old he is but he is a puppy about 9 to 11 weeks. the pockets are like blisters.

we are gonna take him back to the vet this week for his shots but i am afraid to touch him now cause i have another dog in the house and she is my baby and i would die if something happened to her please help me.

What you describe could be a staph infection on his skin - if he had a lot of worms and was weak he may have also been sleeping on damp, dirty ground and that can cause this type of infection.

It's possible that it's a reaction to the worm medication, or one of the shampoos.. but I can't say for sure, only your vet could figure it out.

If it is a staph infection it may need antibiotics to clear it up so I'd recommend getting him checked out again to be sure. It's unlikely that it will spread to your own dog but obviously you need to be careful, so find out from your vet what the problem is so that you know if it's necessary to keep them apart or not.

This poor little pup has had a horrible start and he's so lucky to have found someone to take care of him. I wish you the very best of luck and hope he's feeling much better soon.
