I have an 8 week old puppy, she is awesome at going potty outside everytime we bring her out, but within minutes after bringing her in, she pees again ??
Also, sometime she will "fake pee" outside and not really go, then goes when she comes in. Any help is greatly appreciated!!
Hi Carrie
At 8 weeks old your puppy is just beginning to get control over her bladder/bowels, she's just a baby and it actually sounds as though she's doing really well.
Many times a pup will pee (or poop) twice, or even three times during one potty break - especially first thing in the morning and during the evening period. Don't bring her back inside as soon as she's done her business, give her time to run around and sniff etc., she may then sit down and go again before you get her inside.
If she continues to come indoors and pee within a few minutes, I'd recommend using your crate to control this. Bring her in, put her in the crate for 5 - 10 minutes, then take her right back outside again. Chances are she'll 'finish up' outside at that point and can then come in and play for a while without messing indoors.
Pups of this age need to go out for a potty break every 30 mins to an hour during the day, so make sure she is getting enough trips outdoors. I'd recommend that y.the-puppy-dog-place.com/potty-train-a-puppy.html">Potty Train A Puppy and Crate Training A Puppy pages as they have tons of tips and advice that will help you.
Housebreaking a puppy takes a lot of time, effort and patience, but it sounds as though your pup is on the right track. Just remember she's a baby and be patient and consistent with her.
best of luck!
