I have a rescue/foster boxer pup about 10-12 weeks old. She was super active for about 3 weeks and then quit eating and started losing weight. She is a sack of bones. She drinks somewhat and might nibble at wet food.
When she first started this I was told to rub a small amount of honey on her gums. Now all she wants to eat is honey, no I do not give it to her all the time, but when I do she tries to take my finger off getting it. Please help!
Hi Lena
You really need to have this little girl examined by your veterinarian just as soon as possible as I think she is sick. It's not normal for a puppy to lose weight in this way and my first guess would be an infection of some sort, quite possibly a parasitic one.
If she wasn't eating at all when she was tiny, then a little honey could help raise her blood sugar but it's definitely not something I would continue doing. It's not going to help in this situation.
It could also be that she has a food intolerance or some other problem, but I think an infection is more likely. However, I'm not a veterinarian and you definitely need a professional evaluation here. If she doesn't start eating properly her health is in serious jeopardy.
I wish you the best of luck and hope that you can get to the bottom of what's causing her problems so that she can grow up big and strong.
